Billion of loans in several leading banks in Sri Lanka have been turned into bad debt

The Yashoda Group has been in the top 10 non-performing loans (NPLs) for the past 5 years, from 2017 to 2021, in the State Bank’s NPL rating.

This information was revealed during the inquiry conducted by the Committee on Public Enterprises on 04 May 2022 on the performance and current performance of the relevant Bank for the years 2018-2019.

In addition to the Yashoda Group, CML, MTD Group, Mihin Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., WM Mendis Pvt. Stays in order.

According to reports, the balance of the top 10 non-performing loans by 2020 will increase by 45.94 percent or Rs. 14,910.66 million.

Daya Apparel Group, owned by Daya Gamage, who served as the Minister of Primary Industries and Social Empowerment during the last period of good governance, is ranked 6th out of 10 non-performing loans.
